Contempuls Night is the title of the ninth edition of the Contempuls festival.

Within a single evening, the audience will hear two concerts. Just like in the previous years, the programme features brand new works by Czech composers, created to commission for the festival.

One of the most celebrated contemporary harpsichordists, the Iranian-American musician Mahan Esfahani will give the world premiere of Miroslav Srnka’s Triggering, perform pieces by his compatriot Anahita Abbasi, as well as modern harpsichord repertoire works by Kaija Saariaho and Luciano Berio. The second concert will contain the world premiere of Pěsti (Fists), written by Šimon Voseček, a Czech composer currently living in Austria. It will be performed by the New York-based quartet Yarn/Wire, made up of two keyboardists and two percussionists, who within their debut in the Czech Republic will also play two seminal pieces of their repertoire – music by Alex Mincek and Enno Poppe.

We look forward to seeing you at the double concert, which will take place at the new DOX+ hall at the DOX Centre of Contemporary Arts, this year’s festival partner.
